Industry Placement Years Whilst at University

Industry Placement

PwC Gibraltar offers work experience opportunities to undergraduates who have elected to spend a year out in industry as part of their university degree course.

As a full time employee, you will enjoy the same experience and opportunities as our full-time graduate recruits and get exposure to a wide range of work and clients. Our objective is for you to  make a valuable contribution to our firm. By experiencing life inside the world's leading professional services organisation, you will develop many new skills and qualities that will be valuable in the future.

You start learning on day one, with a full training programme introducing you to the PwC ethos and methodology as well as training with all of the computer software that the firm utilises. In order to ensure that our people receive the best training possible, we work very closely with other PwC firms within Europe and send our people to appropriate training programmes that are available within the network.

Life after studying

During your placement you will find out if this is the career for you. If it is – and you perform well – you could go back to university with the knowledge that you have gained invaluable work experience and have impressed the recruiting managers here at PwC Gibraltar ready for your graduate application. We currently have a very high success rate of students joining us as graduate trainee accountants after university.

Appraising performance and continued development

We ensure that you are constantly aware of your progress and have the opportunity to develop your capabilities and potential. You will then be appointed a councillor who will assist you with your development and at the end of your placement year, formally review your contribution and performance. This is an opportunity for open and positive two-way communication between you and your councillor. It is designed to identify your strengths as well as identify any areas where performance may need to be enhanced.

In addition, you will receive on-going and constructive feedback on your client assignments through performance appraisal discussions with your managers and in-charges.
